Editorial Policy

Updated November 6, 2026 by Keith Guirao

Smart Auto Assist publishes educational articles about auto insurance, vehicle protection, and auto finance. I write and edit those articles and attach the sources I used. Advertisers do not write the articles, and they cannot pay to change a fact.

The aim is to help you understand how a coverage, a contract, or a loan works before you fill out a form. The articles explain. They do not tell you what to buy.

Who writes the articles

The published educational articles on this site are written and edited by me, Keith Guirao, founder of Maven Media, LLC. My name is on the byline. If another writer is ever added, that person’s name will appear on the article.

I am not a licensed insurance agent, not an attorney, and not a financial advisor. Nothing on this site is personal insurance advice, legal advice, or lending advice. For a decision about your own policy or loan, talk with a licensed professional or the company that issued the contract.

You can reach me at keith@mavenmedia.co, through the Contact page, or by mail at Maven Media, LLC, 400 Tenafly Rd #541, Tenafly, NJ 07670.

How an article is sourced

Educational articles on this site include a Sources section, an educational disclaimer, and an author box. That is the pattern you will see on the long-form guides.

I rely on primary and official references when a claim needs a source. On recent articles that includes agencies and regulators such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, state departments of insurance, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission, along with other named public sources linked on the page. I note when a figure is an estimate or when a rule varies by state.

I do not treat a quote-form landing page as a data source. If a number cannot be traced to a source I can show you, it does not belong in the article.

Independence from advertisers

Advertisers and affiliate partners do not write, review, or approve editorial articles. Payment cannot change a fact, a source, or a conclusion. Payment may affect which products appear and where they appear, including links, quote forms, and the company names on the Partners page. The Advertiser Disclosure explains that in more detail.

A company name in an article or on the Partners page is not a ranking and not a personal endorsement.

Corrections

If you find an error, email keith@mavenmedia.co or use the Contact page. Include the article link and the line you think is wrong. I will check it against the source. If the page is wrong, I will correct it and update the date on the article.

For questions about your data, see the Privacy Policy. The Terms of Service cover the legal terms of using the site. The About page introduces the publication.

Frequently asked questions

Are the articles personal advice for my car or my policy?

No. They are educational. Your rate, your coverage, and your loan terms depend on your state, your vehicle, your record, and the contract in front of you. Use the article to understand the words and the tradeoffs, then confirm details with the company or a licensed professional.

Who checks the facts?

I do. I write and edit the educational articles and link the sources I used. There is no separate outside review board named on the site. If a reader sends a correction, I check that line against the original source and fix the page when we got it wrong.

Do insurance companies review the articles before they go up?

No. Editorial articles are not sent to advertisers for approval. A company may appear in a labeled placement, a quote form, or the Partners directory. That placement does not give the company a right to edit the accompanying guide.

What if a law or a rate in an article has changed?

Rules and prices move. Check the updated date on the article and open the live source linked in the Sources section. If you see a figure that no longer matches the official page, tell me through Contact or by email and I will review it.

Educational content. This page is not legal advice and not financial advice. The articles are for learning. They are not a substitute for a licensed agent, attorney, or lender.
